We here at the WIB headquarters are proud to represent hiphop in ALL aspects of the spectrum. Although we mainly cover music, we do take part in the arts like graffiti, the art of scratching & party rocking (the DJ), and also the breakin’ (breakdancing). Last month we covered the Red Bull Emsee (emcee) Competition, now we’re going to cover the DJ battle competition here in Los Angeles (07/14). So if any of you DJs, especially fans of the DJ culture are going to be in town next week, make sure you guys hit up the Supperclub in Hollywood! Here are the details:

Red Bull Thre3Style is an innovative concept that gives highly skilled DJs a platform to battle, perform, gain notoriety and express themselves in a party atmosphere. Unlike other DJ battles that are based on more technical aspects, this is a creative and unique format that seeks to find the DJ that has best perfected the true art of “party rockin’.” Eight of LA’s top DJs will fight for the crowd’s favor, each with a 15 minute set that MUST contain at least three different musical genres. A panel of music industry judges will select the winners based on track selection, creativity, mixing skills, stage presence and crowd reaction, and decide who is the best on the decks in LA. In addition, there will be other competitions being held simultaneously in San Francisco and in Phoenix, AZ. The winners from those two competitions including the Los Angeles winner will be battling it out in Las Vegas for the National Finals in November for two West Coast spots. The winner from that competition will square off in Vancouver, B.C. in December for the International Finals. With over 100 qualifying events throughout the world, the International Finals will pit the top 8 DJs in the world to compete against each other.

Guest judges for this event will be DJs Rhettmatic, Morse Code (who was last year’s champion), and Destructo. There will be eight DJs who will be competing for supremacy like DJ Expo, Risk One, Dynamix, Cassie Stevens, Bobby French, D-JR, As Is, and DJ Backdraft. DJ Spider will be in attendance as well, assisting with hosting and giving a special closing set.
