Josh Wright – “I’ll Take You There” (feat. Wendy Moten)

 

 

Christian pop singer-songwriter Josh Wright‘s cover of the classic “I’ll Take You There” is a brilliant take that effortlessly takes the original to a new plane. Still leaning on the funk, Gospel with a focus on the R&B side of the things, Wright delivers a solid vocal performance that showcases his range as a singer. Leading the charge with his laidback smooth vocals with a layered team of background musicians behind him, soon enough singer Wendy Moten joins in at that legendary verse entry that showcases her commading powerhouse vocals and takes the song to new heights.

 

Born I – “Being Enough”.

Born I‘s  new single “Being Enough” sees him teaming with Gina Jones-Quartey to deliver a heartfelt and soul-stirring track about self-worth and the process of internal healing.

 

 

 

Antoine Stewert – “Rapture Ready”

Chritsian hip-hop artist Antoine Stewert doesn’t hold back in delivering the message of the Gospel in his new single “Rapture Ready.” Bolstered by a cinematic, adrenaline pumping backdrop, the rapper warns us of the inevitable time when Jesus Chirst will return as profesized in the Holy Bible. He talks candidly about the need to put aside worldly ventures and the preparation for judgment day from different perspective. From the current social-political climate to his own life experiences, he gives quite an insightful and thoughtful look at things.

 

Devantier Rain – “U.A.N”

Berlin-based German-Cameroonian artist Devantier Rain caught our ears with his genre-bending style showcased in his new release “U.A.N.” The track has elements of modern alternative R&B with neo soul and a sprinkle of lofi. His voice has a distinct texture that is punctuated by its smoothness and whsipered tone and the track is a perfect vehicle to showcase this. This is perfect for your quite storm playlist.

 

85MAY$ – “Eyez On The Prize”.

 

Chicago-raised rapper 85MAY$ moves into pole position as he drops his new single “Eyez On The Prize.” Over a laidback and reflective backdrop, the emcee shares with listeners his psoitive traits with a showcase of verbal proficiency and bravado. The track is taken from his new album, 85 Seconds To Midnight.

 

Filipe Capontes – “Closure”

Nottingham-based artist/producer Filipe Capontes steps to the forefront with his latest tune “Closure.” The self-produced track sees the young artist opening up about personal issues ranging from loyalty, aftermath of fake love, and being jaded from life.

 

Takes a Village Music – “Yeah Yeah Yeah”

Takes a Village Music‘s “Yeah Yeah Yeah” is a soul-stirring alternative R&B posse cut featuring Nilo Blues, Koladae, Shyo and HMLT. The track was born out of one of several jam sessions with musicians, singers and songwriters and its a showcase of raw talent, and the essence of collaboration. The result is a powerful piece ripe with engaging vocla performances and lyricism that runs the gamut.

 

 

Doza – “Keep It Down”

Doza comes through with “Keep It Down,” laced with an R&B-infused backdrop with crunchy boom-bap drums and raw unfiltered lyrics. The track is produced by Jason “Salty Beats” Salter and is the sophomore single from Doza’s new album, Toxicfckboyhondacivicmuzik.

 

The 6th Letter & GhostboyRJ – “Roll Another One”.

It’s a whole Canadian vibe as The 6th Letter and GhostboyRJ revel in the good times with “Roll Another One,” a laidback jam that sees the Canadian rapper in his element as he akes time to relax and enjoy a fat one as the sun rolls by. The track is lifted from Smoke Sumn Radio, Vol. 1 a tightly-sequenced, 10-track experience that feels like a late-night pirate broadcast from the underground.

 

 

 

Crayon – “Diamond Miner” ft ELIZA & FKJ

French producer/composer Crayon connects with ELIZA and FKJ for “Diamond Miner.” The genre-bending tune is a mix of futuristic soul with hip-hop grooves and a dash of alternative R&B. Comprising sparse and head nodding drums driven with a prevalent bassline and cinematic textures, singer ELIZA sets the tone with her distinct whsipered vocals that rises to a crescendo on the chorus and its followed by rousing instrumentation. The track is taken from the producer’s

long-awaited debut album Home Safe, set for release on October 24 on Erased Tapes.

Ultra Magnus – “Anthem”

Canadian rapper Ultra Magnus pays homage to the land of maple syrup and the Canuck in this apropriately titled track “Anthem.” Backed by Myer Clarity‘s string driven soundscape, Ultra Magnus (I totally approve of this moniker by the way) shows love to the true North, the culture and the game of Hockey. with an unapologetic performance laced with patriotism and a bit of tongue in cheek. Seems canada might be getting a new national anthem and we are here for it.

“Anthem” is the first single from And Nero Played, the upcoming new album from Ultra Magnus dropping this summer on Hand’Solo Records.

 

 

The ART MuZeum – “Why The Caged Rapper Sings”

The ART MuZeum enters our playlist with this reflective and aspirational tune  “Why The Caged Rapper Sings.” Backed by a dreamy and atmospheric backdrop, the Hartford-based rapper/songwriter explores the ups and downs of the life of the proverbial fledgling artist.

 

 

Dirty Harry – “Expectations”

Dirty Harry enters this week’s playlist with the new single “Expectations,” whcih explores the dynamics of life. From self-doubt, life pressures and mental health, Dirty Harry pours all his emotions over a solemn piano-laden backdrop.
