Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we look at some exceptional visuals from various acts around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, it has taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.
Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

Deema – “LILREDWHIP”

UK rapper Deema is working on his upcoming EP, DOG WITH A £, but in the interim, he is sharing the visuals for the single “LILREDWHIP.” The soulful piece showcases heartfelt songwriting and expressive flows that keep audiences engaged from start to finish. The visual is directed by close friend and collaborator Ed Peacock, who helps bring the song to life with a cinematic set that focuses on Deema’s live performance style.

 

 

Nec Nymbl x Killah Priest – “Farewell World”

Toronto producer/rapper Nec Nymbl and the legendary Killah Priest team up for this thought-provoking tune titled “Farewell World.” Over the solemn backdrop, the duo dive into the never-ending puzzle of life in a dystopian setting where everything is bleak. Nec Nymbl starts with his expressive flow followed by Killah Priest’s laid-back authoritative vocal performance. The visual employs AI-generated images and clips that bring the soul-stirring lyrics to life.

 

 

Pierce Elliott – “Take a Trip”.

Northern Chicagoland area-based hip-hop artist PiercePeezyElliott comes through with the visuals for his anthemic single “Take a Trip.” The track is a masterclass in stylish, bravado-laden raps and engaging smooth flows over a punchy soundscape. The visual style is well-crafted and uses eye-popping special effects and futuristic transitions that augment the performance style.

 

 

 

 

Sabrina Monique – “Me You and Your Ego”.

 

Rising singer/songwriter Sabrina Monique delivers the visual for her song “Me You and Your Ego.” The track is a heartfelt and reflective look at a past love and all the lessons learned from the experience. Armed with her expressive lilting vocal runs and engaging songwriting, Sabrina Monique delivers a solid performance that will linger in listener’s minds. The visual captures her in her element as she slowly finds her strength amid the chaos.

 

 

Phat Kat – “Still Bubblin’ ” (14KT & Tall Black Guy Remix)

Detroit’s finest Phat Kat drops the visuals for his song “Still Bubblin’  (14KT & Tall Black Guy Remix).” The remix has a layered feel with sublime vocal samples, jazzy chords and sparsely arranged drum grooves. The visuals are mostly performance shots of the legend as he strolls through his stomping grounds. The original song is from Phat Kat’s Re-Dedication To The Suckers EP from 2015.

 

 

KSI x Trippie Redd – “Thick Of It”

 

UK online personality/rapper/songwriter KSI returns to the forefront with his new single “Thick Of It” featuring Trippie Redd. The track breaks KSI’s musical hiatus and showcases his return to his musical roots. He also uses it to deliver a poignant message of authenticity, self-belief and the pros and cons of fame. Trippie Redd joins the fray and adds his 2 cents to the topic. The KC Locke-directed visual unleashes KSI from the remote icy landscapes of Antarctica and we get to see his meteoric rise to the top of the rap game.

 

K-Embry – “1997”.

 

Producer K-Embry thrills us with the AI-powered visual for his single “1997.” The track has a surreal vibe and atmospheric textures with a R&B/hiphop energy of the past and future. The visuals use clips and images that capture the splendour of the big city and beautiful ladies.

 

QU/NTEN – Yellow”.

 

Hardworking rapper/songwriter QU/NTEN drops the visuals for his new single “Yellow.” The track has a summer vibe comprising a slick guitar riff and a smooth textured bounce underpinned by his melodic flow and impassioned lyrics about the lady who caught his eyes.

 

 

 

Maleek Berry x Ruger – “Lately”.

 

UK/Nigerian producer/songwriter/singer Maleek Berry teams up with Nigerian pop star Ruger for “Lately.” The song sees Berry and Ruger crafting a powerful love tune that is one for the ladies. The visual style is colourful and theatrical to the senses and uses a lot of engaging set pieces, seamless transitions and performance shots of the duo. The track is lifted from Maleek Berry’s debut album, If Only Love Was Enough which is set for release on 1st November.

 

 

Nia Chennai – “WHO’S THAT GIRL?”.

London-based R&B / Neo-soul singer, songwriter and artist Nia Chenna unveils the visuals for her female empowerment track “WHO’S THAT GIRL?.”  Backed by a warm and bouncy backdrop, Nia Chenna embodies the spirit of a woman on a mission whose mere presence turns heads and makes people take notice. The track is ripe with raw confidence bolstered by earworm melodies and unapologetic songwriting. The visual taps into the self-love element and follows Nia Chenna as she and her girl team splurge on themselves, because they deserve it.

 

 

 

Phyno – “Time of My Life” (featuring ArrDee)

Award-winning Nigerian rap icon Phyno connects with platinum-selling UK rap sensation Arrdee for his brand new single “Time of My Life.” The JaySynths-produced track is brimming with rich textures, an undeniable polyrhythmic groove underpinned by Phyno and Arrdee’s cross-cultural infused raps that give audiences a taste of the UK and Nigeria. The visual also adds an extra layer of splendour as both artists lead the charge at a private house party filled with the good things only money can buy.
