Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This segment looks at exceptional visuals from acts around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, and has taken flight from multi-million-dollar budget music videos to mid- to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

Monsieur Mellow – “Paris Strut”.

Monsieur Mellow is the new musical project from Callum MacDonald of Australian R&B outfit daste. Their latest release,Paris Strut,” is a modern funk/hip-hop-infused jam that features punchy drum breaks, sultry vocals and funky guitar arrangements that slaps from ear to ear.

 

GUNn – “심리적 상태묘사”.

South Korean artist GUNn – “심리적 상태묘사” which means “psychological state description” in Korean is a heartfelt piece about emotional trauma and heartbreak. Over a smooth modern R&B/pop backdrop, the artist delivers a sublime and warm vocal performances ripe with heartwarming lyrics that lovers of K-pop can relate to.

Isaiah Irahkiev x M-Dot – “Stones” prod. by M-Dot

Roxbury, MA hip-hop artist Isaiah Irahkiev and Boston lyrical heavyweight M-Dot connect the “Stones.” The track produced by M-Dot features a menacing soundscape underpinned by raw, unapologetic bravado-laden raps from bth emcees.

Shot by SandoFilms. The visual brings the lyrics to life with engaging performances that blend live action with eye-popping visual effects. The single will be featured on M-Dot’s upcoming project A Notebook With No Light (coming soon) via Soulchain Records.

Fliptrix x Coops – “Freedom?”

OG emcee Fliptrix  and Coops drop another solid boombap banger entitled “Freedom?” Backed by the cinematic and hard-hitting production by Forest DLG, the emcee delivers thought-provoking and engaging rhymes that tackle real-time issues, ranging from one’s true purpose to finding inner peace in a world that has gone to the dogs. The visual style has clips of the emcees in their respective stomping grounds

The track is the latest single from Fliptrix’s forthcoming Elevation LP, produced by Forest DLG and featuring General Levy, Frisco, Da Flyy Hooligan, Kamakaze and a 19-strong High Focus posse cut.| Pre Order it here.

 

 

M Huncho – “Championship”

UK Trap Wave artist M Huncho is in his element as he unveils the visuals for his new single “Championship.” The track is an aspirational anthem that talks about self-belief, hunger to fulfil his dreams and be a better person in all spheres of his life. As a staunch Arsenal FC fan, M Huncho pays homage to the two Arsenal legends in the visuals, while channelling the club’;s fighting spirit.

Toniey Girl – “Dear Jono (R&B Version)”

Toniey Girl‘s “Dear Jono (R&B Version)” is a touching tribute to her late husband. The track explores the highs and lows of the beautiful relationship she had and also touches on her flaws as a young woman in love, but overall, it shows regret, growth and healing. The visualizer blends performance shots of the singer with images that punctuate the heartfelt lyrics.

 

 

Seyi Vibez x Omah lay – “My Healer”

“My Healer” is a hypnotic afropop collaboration between Nigerian singers Seyi Vibez and Omah Lay. The track has a warm and atmospheric vibe underpinned by Seyi Vibez’s low register and Omah Lay’s sublime melodies. The duo share their respective stories revolving around pain, growth and celebration of life after overcoming the odds. The accompanying visual employs a lot of Afrocentric motifs, exotic set pieces and performance shots that highlight both singers’ unique styles.

 

Future – “Rocketship Freestyle (Remix by LuvahLuvah )”

Emerging rapper LuvahLuvah flips Future’s “Rocketship” in his latest release. Over the thick 808-driven backdrop, the emcee flexes his lyrical muscle on the opposition while standing on business. The track’s accompanying visual employs nifty camera angles and effects that highlight the rapper’s unorthodox style.

 

B-Rad x Grace Courbis – “Love Just Is”

Singer/songwriter B-Rad and poetess Grace Courbis team up to show us how “Love Just Is”. The production is soulful and timeless, while the love-laden lyrics are heartfelt and touching

 

 

C-B7ACK – “B7ESSINGS”

Brick City-raised artist C-B7ACK delivers this soulful tune “B7ESSINGS”, which highlights his faith and appreciation for life. Armed with his expressive flow and relatable storytelling, he flows effortlessly over KDAGREAT’s jazz/Gospel infused backdrop. The visual captures his natural charisma in front of the camera.

Aquakultre – “Make That Change” feat. Measha Brueggergosman

Multi-award-winning Halifax artist Aquakultre unveils the visuals for his single “Make That Change” featuring Juno Award-winning soprano Measha Brueggergosman-Lee. The track is a solemn and reflective piece that talks about the long-lasting effects of intra-community violence and the power of inner change that can help break the cycle of violence. Rather than seeking superficial solutions, Aquakulture looks at the root cause and reminds listeners of how true change comes from within.  The visual uses performance shots of the rapper, alongside subtle motifs anchored on reflection. The track is taken from Aquakultre’s forthcoming third studio album, 1783.
