Polaris-nominated, multi-disciplinary artist Kimmortal is a Vancouver-based queer Filipinx whose style embodies their Filipino and Canadian heritages. They recently unveiled their new EP, sunniest of days, and now they present the first visual for the lead single “I Just Wanna Know.” The track is an upbeat jazz-soul-hip-hop-infused track that captures the brightness of summer and the reflective thoughts of Kimmortal as they remind us of the power of self-healing, confidence and inner strength. The verses are packed with uplifting and self-empowering themes, with Kimmortal as our muse who aims to lift our souls out of the doldrums. She is unapologetic, candid and cuts straight to the chase and on the chorus she seals it with a call to action as she sings “I just wanna know, you give a fuck about you.” The production is stunning and smooth, thanks to her band comprising keyboardist Matt Yang, Feven Kidane, who plays the horns and arrangement by Kimmortal and drummer Miles.

The visualizer follows the theme of the song and sees Kimmortal in their element as they congregate with their crew in the breezy fields. The result is a performance-based visual that is summery and fun.
