Emerging rapper/songwriter JURAKHAN recently put out his new album, GITA, a 9-track concept album inspired by the Sanskrit word for singing/song or chanted. The album explores spirituality, the modern world and the layered human connections that unravel with time and space. Alongside, he puts out two tracks, “LANE//SWITCH” and “UNRAVEL,” to tease fans.
The first cut “LANE//SWITCH” is a hard-hitting jam that is propelled by a cinematic backdrop oozing urgency. Here, the rapper delivers bravado-laden bars with insight and an edgy energy, reminding us to take the bull by the horns while the naysayers are discarded to the trash pile. The energy rises as he hits the chorus section and warms up the crowd with a call to action as he raps “Go go go go never fucking stop / tik tok on the clock I’m not gonna waste my shot.”
“UNRAVEL” is a dark and gloomy piece that takes listeners deep into the dark crevices of the human mind. Over a hypnotic and ethereal soundscape laced with dark textures, sparse drum grooves with soft horn passes. Here, JURAKHAN gradually leads listeners on a journey into the human psyche. He explores the yin and yang, casts aside the simple concept of good and bad and ventures into a nuanced state where each invidual must question themseleves as they face their true identity.
