Toronto-based rapper/spoken word artist Eyeda Sophia caught our attention with two tracks from her stash.

The first track “Hung Up” is a soulful piece ripe with summery guitar riffs and bare-bones grooves underpinned by engaging lyricism and expressive flows. Armed with her distinct voice, she tells a heartfelt tale of broken promises and toxicity within a relationship. She is joined by rapper Pharah who adds a different side to the story to balance things out.

The second track “Invested” showcases Eyeda Sophia’s spoken word talent. Backed by a stripped-down acoustic guitar-driven backdrop, she delivers a soul-stirring performance with her rich and emotionally powerful lyric like “The best lies come from the lips of a lover“s. Here, she reflects on unrequited love, heartbreak and self-worth. She blends spoken word poetry with sublime melodic runs as well.
