East London-based, Ukrainian singer/songwriter Irys in Blue caught our attention with their new release “fine, okay,” a mid-tempo R&B/hiphop infused cut that explores relationship drama and passive-aggressive emotions. Backed by downtempo Trap-inspired drums, dreamy R&B textures with nostalgic vibes, Iris in Blue delivers a masterclass in storytelling as she paints a vivid imagery of the tug and pull that happens in relationships. Armed with a distinct and expressive vocals that rises to a crescendo at certain parts, Irys in Blue lays down her true thoughts on wax with lines like “can you stop nitpicking my work/my words,my songs,My thoughts/sure I do love when you’re holding my hand/but I got no clue what’s inside of ur head/you never tell and then when I’m down maybe I had a bad day or maybe I just need to vent” before hitting the chorus where the passive-aggressive punch comes into play.

The track is relatable, and the lyrics are well-crafted.

Having grown up in Ukraine and moved to Europe at 17, she blends her Eastern European roots with Western influences, drawing inspiration from Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, and Solange. Her sound flows through pop, R&B, hip-hop, and soul – channeling the rawness of her upbringing with the emotive edge. Her music explores the complex crossings of modern girlhood and the quiet chaos of overshot self-awareness. Rooted in emotion and laced with irony, Irys in Blue crafts vibey, introspective tracks that live in the sweet spot between existential dread and the things that make you feel alive.
