WIB # 50 – Women in Hip-Hop 3 Roundtable by Thewordisbond.Com on Mixcloud
Today, we present you a special roundtable discussion with four very talented ladies.
Ash Knuckles is a passionate music connoisseur and an active participant in hip-hop. She is a deejay, a photographer, and a writer. She does marketing, video production, and has worked with some of the best talent hip-hop has to offer.
Miss.She.Ill is an up and coming emcee who is working on her debut album right now.
Kzaraw is a dope emcee. She is one half of the group Class of ’93. Their album “Awesome” lives up to its name. She also drops solo projects.
Dominique Larue is one of my favourite emcees in the game right now. She held down a spot in my Top 12 Albums of 2012 as well.
We had a great discussion and covered some pretty interesting topics.
This was part of DOPEfm’s annual Women in Hip-Hop Spectacular. It’s a yearly tradition for us to dedicate our entire overnight’s worth of radio programming to the Women in Hip-Hop. We do this to celebrate International Women’s Day and to shine a spotlight on hip-hop’s better half. It’s an important voice that often gets overshadowed in what tends to be a male dominated art form.
If you missed last week’s show, we played an hour’s worth of female emcees. You can go back and listen to the hip-hop mixshow as soon as you have checked out this roundtable discussion.
Next week, we will continue with this theme and take a close look at the history of women in hip-hop. The following week, we have a special guest deejay, L’oqenz delivering us a great mixset.
Remember to tune in to The Word is Bond Podcast each and every single week for the best in hip-hop music and talk. You can also subscribe to us on iTunes so you’ll never miss an episode of the show.
