“Still blazing this kush/But I am not high enough that I would sign with a record label that is not for the culture/I got integrity, twenty-three million still not a high enough number/I need all of that”
Imagine turning down millions of dollars from a rapacious record label in this modern era. Well, while some might want to sell their soul to acquire money and fame, a Canadian/ American artist, Noah23, outright says no. The rapper has performed on several high-profile stages, including King of the Dot, SXSW, Sonar Festival in Barcelona & Low End Theory in Los Angeles is currently working on a collaborative project with veteran Canadian producer Fresh Kils. In the interim, the duo share their new single “Million Dollar Deal.” The track explores the concept of integrity in a low-trust music industry where money and the lust for validation and virality outweigh everything else. Backed by Fresh Kils’ rock-heavy guitar production, Noah23 delivers his thoughts with a choppy flow and a somewhat nonchalant demeanour. His mission statement is clear as day when he says
“Feeling like a cheetah running up, I’m chasing down a zebra
Yeah, it’s Big 23, I’m in the cut for non-believers”
“Million Dollar Deal” is taken from Noah23 and Fresh Kils forthcoming collaborative album, Tuff Racket.
