Ever since ‘The Verse-gate fiasco’, a slew of responses and damn near high potent (and not so potent) music has been released from all quarters. We at WIB even have a dedicated post that keeps evolving with every new response. Before I stray further down the rabbit hole, let’s tune into this new cat Fluent, straight out of NC with his new single ‘Cash Flow’ produced by the perennial beatmeister 9th Wonder. In usual fashion 9th brings in that familiar soundscape we have all grown to love. The beat thumps hard with some trippy chops which leaves Fluent space to vocally manoeuvre his way through. He reminds me of Jinx da Juvy (where is he by the way?).

Get with the program.

Blending the nostalgic, boom-bap styles of the past with new and innovative trends of the modern day, North Carolina emcee Fluent is the artist to watch out for. By bridging some crafty, forward thinking bars and a catchy chorus together with the old school, Golden Era flavors provided by 9th Wonder, “Cash Flow” properly sets the standard for Fluent’s aptly titled Retro Future; the album, which drops on August 27th, will have the young rapper collaborate with some of Hip-Hop’s hottest acts, including Royce da 5’9″, SpaceGhostPurp, Khrysis and J. Cardim.
