In 2013, YC The Cynic is just the type of young artist needed to inject life into hip-hop. He is one of a number of emerging emcees currently on my “ones to watch” list (alongside up and comers such as Add-2 and S-Mak). For a glimpse of his talents be sure to check out his mixtape Fall Fwd. Released two years ago, it showcases his considerable lyrical abilities and effortless flow… but that was then and this is now. ‘God Complex’ is the first single from his forthcoming album GNK, and his new direction is showing an encouraging level of growth and maturity. This song is deep and full of subtle reflective commentary on the nature of God. YC’s artistry showcases philosophical hip-hop at it’s refreshing best.
