Hip-Hop has played many roles since its inception. Originating as the voice of the ghetto speaking on issues that were mentioned in Grandmaster Mellie Mel & The Furious Five‘s The Message — hip-hop has became a socially conscious vehicle that was always present when the world came together for a huge cause. In this case with with the Philippines who has recently been hit by a typhoon, we see hip-hop there again.

From contributing to Haiti back in 2010, to donating to those in Japan in 2011 — we find ourselves (again) on the heels of another natural disaster. With that being said, here are a couple of events that are raising money (or anything you can give) to send to the typhoon victims in the Philippines. So far, Game has donated money for the cause already.

So far, we have two events going down on both coasts: One (tonight) in New York City, and this weekend in Los Angeles. If you know of any events contributing to the cause, please don’t hesitate to let me or any of our editors here know as we are committed to help out at any given time to the cause — so that we can spread the word here!
