Diabolic – Game Time feat. Sean Price & Vinny Paz prod. 5th Seal

As the saying goes third time’s a charm, and Diaolic‘s ‘Game Time’, the third single off his soon to be released LP Fighting Words, reinforces just that. On this one, he brings in two rap heavyweights (literally) in the form of Sean Price and Vinnie Paz. As expected, the product is brutal, full of intense bars over a sinister backdrop crafted by 5th Seal.

I need not stress that Fighting Words is something y’all should get your paws on. Hit the play button coz its ‘Game Time’!

Alan T – Failure feat. Shaa Hebrew

Alan T is back to give us some positivity with his new joint ‘Failure’, featuring Shaa Hebrew. The Queens native has an uplifting message to send, and over laid back production Alan proposes success through life’s rough patches, including family doubts, and the distractions of the city. In the end he proclaims :

“Everybody’s success is not your failure.”

Wise words from the young wordsmith.

Remain on the look out for the God Speed EP, dropping soon.

Check it out!

L’Orange – Need You feat. Blu

L’Orange hits us with an atomic bomb of a video for his track ‘Need You’, taken from his album The Orchid Days and featuring the enviable talent of Blu. The visuals for ‘Need You’ are spectacular, a short film in itself accompanied by the haunting beat and melancholic vocals of the song, conceptually based around a ‘post-apocalyptic Adam and Eve story’. L’Oranges videos tend to be a level higher than the norm and this doesn’t disappoint.

Director’s Note – “As a multi-media artist coming from a back ground in performance and video art, the first time I heard L’Orange’s “Need..

On Cue – Angry Young Man

I know many OnCue fans have been holding their breath for this drop but finally Angry Young Man is released. The 12-track monster includes superb production from CJ Luzi, Hudson Mohawke, ARW, Dream Koala and Cue’s right hand man Just Blaze, just to name a few.

This comes as follow up to 2013’s leftovers. To be quite honest, between the crazy energy and raw lyrical content, Cue has created a musical bliss that you could play again in 2025.  ‘So much love’ and ‘Broken Language’ are personal bangers of mine, but it’s hard to say which joint..

Busdriver – Perfect Hair

Busdriver is one of the most unique MCs on the scene, characterised by a flow that resembles a gattling gun of abstract expression, and Perfect Hair is his spectacular new album. It’s an insane trip through his mind, packed full of awesome production (Kenny Segal, Mono/Poly and Jeremiah Jae for instance), although my favourite track on the whole thing is definitely ‘Ego Death’, who features Aesop Rock and Danny Brown in what may be the waviest set of verses laid down on a track. Really, really dope sh*t.

P.S. he wants you to know he’s been working with electronic/beat music guys his whole career.

Rozewood – I Rhyme Ill

Amityville-bred emcee Rozewood has came through to spread a couple of genius verses over a couple of J Dilla productions in ‘I Rhyme Ill’. This joint, a tribute to the late Dilla, comes from the highly anticipated mix tape Lucid.Chxsts.

Roze spits:

“I write my rhymes in the sky with light sticks, scribing my name in the clouds to incite the crowd/I’m a martyr of a darker side, that brings us all to light/In shades of black & white, I’ll pay to catch a flight, that never left the port/ when all I had..

Sean Brown – Nothing New feat. Dave East prod. Superville

Sean Brown does it again as he brings us another chill joint called ‘Nothing New’. The track features fellow MC Dave East, and the two wordsmiths connect as their flows merge with the hypnotic sounds of soft keyboards and drums adding a sophisticated touch to this track, thanks to producer Superville. East spits with perfection in the first verse, while Brown finishes it off by killing it with ambition.

Be on the look out for Mascot 2, which is said to drop before we celebrate the New Year.
