Ok so firstly two things to demonstrate how much I love this: a) usually I limit myself to one post a day so I don't burn all the stuff i find b) I really really need to be revising. But this needs to be heard.
Originally broadcast in 2009 on BBC1Extra, this is an hour long mix celebrating hip hop since it's birth with Sugar Hill Gang. And what a journey it takes you on. It's nuts, you gotta listen to it from front to back.

AUDIO: Denizo – Strange Things (Russia)
Denizo – a member of Jazz Gangsters - offers us some "strange things" in a new release on the Lucky Time label.
A couple of months ago, Jazz Gangsters published a debut nu-jazz and hip-hop album entitled "Golden Jazzyland." During the recording of that album it was impossible to predict how much things would spin out of control – and turn into a collection of broken, dope beats. Maybe that's because Denizo also works as a techno producer. Not long ago, in fact, he published 12" some fearsome German techno on Shaded Records. When asked about the recording process for this newer, even more adventurous release, Denizo explained how he had used random sounds taken from a radio set. "I simply twiddled the knobs, changing stations and recording the result. That's how we ended up with such 'strange things.'

I must let this be known, I got this joint in a nice little email after I heard it on a late night coming home from an event back in 2008. I've only heard this on Canada's WEFUNK Radio (via itunes). I just remembered being halfway sleep when I end up being woken up by a melodic joint that was smooth, with Common rhyming to it! So I checked out the show's archives and found where it was playing live. I emailed DJ Static (who's one of the hosts of the radio station), telling him I was willing to buy the track. He responded the following day with the joint! I couldnt stop playing it for a good two or three weeks straight...
Forward to today.. and STILL, I havent seen this online anywhere. So, with that being said, Im streaming it just for now. I'll go ask if its cool to release for a download. Shoutout to WEFUNK Radio for playing this joint three years back!

Mad Original and a must watch...A lot of work went on this video, great achievement and very nostalgic.
-- Remember back back in the day when you had that 1 Homie who would video tape & record every rap video on TV, or every rap show on the radio? Fast forward 15 years, the Homie has a box of 30 or so VHS cassette tapes sittin dusty in a drawer with things like "Rap City", "Summer Jam", "The Box", "In Da Round" scrolled on the side of'em in some youthful hand styles fit for a wall or 2 - and you're like, I need to watch these, takes you back, rappin along with every word like it was yesterday. But you ain't mad raps evolved, cus you fuck with the new shit, cus back then "this was the new shit". You were at home thinking, "How can I rap like that?"

The Magnificent Ruffians and Owbese present: Tentatively Thinking! Featuring production by Owbese, Dj Ad-Seg, Captain, Lazy G, Dizmemberone, M Padron and more. This album was inspired by the need for dope hiphop. No radio, drop it like it's hot, do the duggie dance type songs on this album. If you want that, all you have to do is turn on the radio. But if you want real hiphop music, then you will need to dig and download this album. The title Tentatively Thinking was brought about because at first, we never intended to do an album. The chemistry was just so dope that before we knew it, we had 15 joints and then decided to go ahead and put them out. The Thinking was added to reinforce the importance of thought provoking lyrics. Not just some easy ABC raps that some artist come with. We wanted our fans to think deeper and at the same time have fun with it. So, with that said, we hope you enjoy the album!

Our Latest versus, this time we have John Graham's quick and witty floetic lyrics, over French producer Sizemen super dope, african beat.
I first heard the sizemen beat, courtesy of our editor ~peacelove, that found the french producer and posted his 2 beat tapes a while back. This beat is off his EP,"Sizemen in Africa", we normally ask for original beats off producers, for the versus, but this track was too crazy to pass on, so decided to keep it aside, until I could find someone dope enough to kill the beat....enter John Graham...a brother that got in touch via twitter, I listened to his work and posted a track by the name "Never Second Guess" so so fresh...when you post music day in and day out, it's difficult to find new artists that genuinely surprise you, and Jhon was just that, a super talented MC with witty lyrics and dope flows...I reached out, and asked him if he'd be up to spitting to this crazy joint by Sizemen...he listened to it, and although was a bit different to what he is used to spit to, he agreed as it was challenging.
The result (above), speaks for it self....press play above and enjoy the dopeness of this international collab...another classic Word Is Bond Versus for ya'll to enjoy. Hope you've been enjoying the WIB Versus series so far.
