ALBUM: K-Def – Night Shift (Escapizm ft. Rob O) OUT NOW!
We mentioned K-Def on our top 5 producers of 2011 early on today, and we are glad to spread the word on his new album "Night Shift" which was released today, via Redefinition records.
Support the artist and dedication, purchase the work of a legendary producer in this underground game.
Once again the man from Passaic, New Jersey, is back with another winner. Classifying K-Def's Night Shift as a strictly “Hip Hop” release limits the amount of craftsmanship and creative ingenuity that went into this collection of songs, but don't take our word for it; listen to the record. Consisting of 2 vocal tracks alongside a handful of expertly programmed instrumental tunes & covers, Night Shift is the type of project that doesnt ask for much, but offers plenty in return as far as replay value is concerned. Don't sleep on Night Shift.
For the opening selection, K-Def recreated the standout cut, “Escapizm,” from Pete Rock & CL Smooth's The Main Ingredient with none other than the author of many of Pete’s rhymes on that album, Rob O (of INI). It’s an effective way to give long-time fans a feeling of nostalgia and introduce new fans to a period in Hip Hop that was truly special. Check it out...

FREENESS: Dirty Hank – Overslept ft Reason (Danny Drive Thru Rmx)
Dirty Hank - Overslept ft Reason (Danny Drive Thru RMX)
2 track EP, the original version above, and the instrumental...funky production, reminds of Cypress Hill somehow.
About:
"Forget about Kanye's "Power" remix. This winter, it's all about Dirty Hank. The emcee/polygamist has teamed up with almost legendary producer Danny Drive Thru to remix
"Overslept,"a joint that was originally produced by Falside. Danny provides his twist with a tune that sounds like it was recorded straight from a college football haltime show.
Reason of Poorly Drawn People makes a guest appearance on this one. The two are working on a project at the moment entitled "The Monty Brogan EP" which will be available at the beginning of the year. The original version of "Overslept" appears on Henry's earlier EP "Dirty Hank's Guide To Giving Up."

FREENESS: Von Pea – “Thanks For Your Children” Ft. Che Grand and Elucid
Von Pea - "Thanks For Your Children" Feat. Che Grand and Elucid
About
"As anticipation grows for the October 12th release of Von Pea's new album, Pea's Gotta Have It, he's enlisted the help of a few friends for the album's newest single "Thanks For Your Children." The new track features guest spots from fellow Lessondary members Che Grand and Elucid and was produced by Philly's own Brizzio, protégé to the legendary producer Buckwild. According to Von, he actually had to hi-jack this track away from Che, as Che's relationship with Brizzio goes way back – he, not Von, usually gets first dibs on Brizio's tracks. All is well that ends well, though, as Von and Che, along with Elucid, all wound up on the track together, absolutely killing it."
