If you're like me then no rhythms move you like those of the good old boom bap variety. Varsity Squad (Jon Quest & Beedie) have released an album that incorporates the sounds of the past but present it to you in a new school way. I haven't even mentioned the incredible array of producers on this record: Buscrates, Shade Cobain, DJ Vex, Czentist, Git Beats and MassAppeal. This is definitely a head-nodding modern classic and deserves to be listened to.

DILLA EVENT REVIEW (Manchester/England): J Dilla Changed My Life
For the second year in a row, Juicy & The Doctor's Orders have teamed up and put on an event in Manchester to celebrate the life of J Dilla. This was the first of three similar events to take place in the UK this year and it went off with a bang. There were a couple of special guests this year; Phat Kat (who hosted the night and performed a couple of his classic tracks) and Dilla's mother, Ma Dukes Yancey. The sounds for the evening were provided by Manchester DJs Mr Scruff, Air Adam, Mr E, Illum Sphere, Jonny Dub and myself (DJ A-UP), plus Spin Doctor, who made the trip up from London.

M.anifest is Ghana's dopest hip hop star. He first caught my attention when I heard his track 'Suffer' and since then I've been a fan. He's worked with Rhymesayers and has a track with Brother Ali so you know he must be doing something right. This is his latest video 'Maka' from his sophmore release 'Immigrant Chronicles' and gives you a good taste of what M dot is all about.
