PREVIEW: Yungun – Open Your Eyes (Mr Thing Remix) (UK)

Yungun has been around for a good few years now and has a strong catalogue of music to his name. This leak from his new mixtape 'Jack The World' (to be released on November 18th) is a remix by Yungun's DJ and ex-Scratch Pervert, Mr Thing. I recently spoke to Mr Thing and was told to expect the production on the new mixtape to come from a whole host of big names. This is the second leak from the album, the first being 'I Want It' produced by Waajeed so you know you are dealing with some of the best in the game.

NEWS/AUDIO: The Roots – New Album “undun” and Debut Track “Make My”

A big today for fans of The Roots crew with the announcement of their album undun set for a December 6th release date. Hand in hand with this is the first track to be released from it, "Make My" featuring Mississippi's Big K.R.I.T. and the co-production of regular collaborator Khari Mateen. Exposition by ?uestlove...
“At this point in our career we’d like for our work to have a unifying theme, and an experiential quality. We’ve been intentionally making our albums shorter in length so that they can be experienced as a continuous work. The music is band-oriented with an eye on the moody cinematic. As a DJ, I am the King of playlists, but I don’t want our albums to feel like a playlist or a mixtape for that matter. We want to tell stories that work within the album format and we want the stories to be nuanced and useful to people. Undun is the story of this kid who becomes criminal, but he wasn’t born criminal. He’s not the nouveau exotic primitive bug-eyed gunrunner like Tupac’s character Bishop in Juice… he’s actually thoughtful and is neither victim nor hero. Just some kid who begins to order his world in a way that makes the most sense to him at a given moment… At the end of the day… isn’t that what we all do?”

WORD IS BOND VS.: KnowSum Vs. SigNif – Let’s Figure It Out

After over two weeks of no drops, we are bringing the Versus back, with this head nodding, body moving, shoe tapping bomb, right here.
Knowsum is a young up & coming producer, only 18 years old, but with undeniable talent, we had to reach out after listening to his EP "The Most Awkward" at the start of the year (check his instrumental EP, previously posted) , and SigNif out of New York city, is one talented Femcee, she has been dropping bombs since last year, and we've been supporting here on Word Is Bond from the get go, only natural for us to reach out, for her to drop some gold on this dope beat (make sure you check her previous work)
As always press play and enjoy this WIB exclusive...we keep on bringing you that exclusive content, that you won't find anywhere else.

ALBUM REVIEW: The Dime – Brickyard Cove

Most cities find their crime concentrated in urban centres but Richmond, CA, is a little different. Richmond is unique in that the vast majority of crime committed there is exclusively reserved to certain sections of town. Other areas prove quiet, peaceful and prosperous in comparison. It is this juxtaposition that led to Knightshift and Chioke, the Richmond duo who make up The Dime, to name their debut album “The Brickyard Cove”.
In an interview earlier this month the two artists explained how the Brickyard Cove, one of Richmond’s wealthiest and most scenic areas, was always a place of refuge in hard times; a place that the youth of Richmond’s poorer districts could aspire to one day live. The intro track taken from a news segment focused on youth crime in Richmond cements the theme of The Brickyard Cove. From the outset the album promises to be a journey through Richmond, CA, led by our two protagonists that make up, The Dime.
VIDEO: Iron Solomon – Sucker MC’s ft. DMC
Iron Solomon, sent a teaser of this video, a few days back, and I've been waiting for it to drop, and DEAM, dope lyrics by Solomon with a VERY strong hook by DMC over a powerful beat that sounds like a throwback to that Run DMC addictive sound.
It's always refreshing when upcoming artists do dope and original collabs with Legends of this game. Shows respect and admiration.
Iron Solomon teams up with the legendary DMC for "Sucker MC's." Look for Solomon to drop his debut album, "Monster," FALL 2011.

AUDIO: Tyler, The Creator – Tron Cat (Early Release)

The first leak from Tyler the Creator's upcoming album "Goblin"...it seems that even though dope, this is not the final album version.
Liking the cinematic instrumental over the ever so original lyricisim.
