ALBUM REVIEW: Hi-Hat Club Vol. 6 – Haus & Garten
In the sixth instalment of Melting Pot Music’s Hi-Hat Club releases, the award winning turntablist turned producer DJ Adlib brings the series back to its roots in Cologne, Germany with Haus & Garten.
“Enter” powers up and introduces you to the vibe of this album. Strong drums, synthesizers and prominent bass are the main ingredients throughout and DJ Adlib utilises them well to create his own style. In fact the album, like previous volumes, revels and finds many of its strengths in the varied, liberal sounds employed which mean the tracks are far from clear cut hip-hop beats.

The Hi-Hat Club is back. Some of the best albums to come out in 2010, where from MPM, and the Hi-Hat Club series was right at the top of that list. Vol.5 was released back in August, and I am glad to see yet another volume, before the end of the year.
DJ Adlib is bringing the Hi-Hat Club back to Cologne. „Haus & Garten“ is the sixth installment of our producer series and we're taking things to the next level with this one. Not only because Adlib has chosen to share the spotlight with Black Spade, Declaime, Frank Nitt and Planet Asia but simply for the music the turntablist turned producer has cooked up in his „Haus & Garten“(„House & Garden“).
Since 1999, Adlib has been a member of the Noisy Stylus crew, who won trailer loads of turntablist competitions and released their fully scratched album „Table Manners“ in 2005. As a producer, Adlib dropped his first solo effort (Adlibertine EP) under UK's exotica drum & bass pioneer Danny Breaks' own imprint Alphabet Zoo. Ever since Adlib has laced productions for various hip hop outfits including Stones Throw's MED and Rawkus' Dynas.

ALBUM REVIEW: Miles Bonny – Lumberjack Soul
As neo-soul increases in popularity, Miles Bonny makes his contribution with his 24 June release, “Lumberjack Soul.” Originally from New York City, Miles transplanted to Lawrence, Kansas, to attend Kansas University in 1999 where he began to produce music and launched the Lawrence-specific site, lawrencehiphop.com. Through his participation in various Lawrence hip-hop groups as well as an internship with Sub Verse Music, Miles gained an intimate relationship with the goings-on of independent hip-hop labels, which eventually led him to creating his own label.
