Add Lupe and Pharrell to the growing list of rappers to plan a collaboration album. Lupe announced the news on his website in an excited albeit brief statement:

FREENESS: Lupe Fiasco x Palm Of Ice – Kind Of Lu (Palm Of Ice Rmxs)
Lupe Fiasco x Palm Of Ice - Intro (Two Seconds)
Lupe Fiasco x Palm Of Ice - Daydreamin
Lupe Fiasco x Palm Of Ice - Kick, Push
If you like Jazzy beats, remixes or both then today's a good day and you should be in love with me.
Ok so it's funny sometimes how we find stuff to put on WordIsBond. I found this when I searched 'kick' in my iPod and misselected Mo' Record Kicks (which is a dope album by the way) and got the Kind Of Lu remix of Kick, Push instead. Then sorta paused for a moment and revelled in the moment cos I haven't listened to this for a while. Then wondered what I was doing standing around like a lemon and not blogging this sh**.
Anyway this is a cute set of remixes for some of Lupe Fiasco acapella's off Food & Liquor with a couple of skits. It was made after hearing this Lupe Fiasco interview (which is worth a listen totally). This, to me, demonstrates the qualities of simplicity. They aren't sophisticated chops with intricate cuts, they're just really well chosen loops, mainly Ahmed Jamal and I don't think there's even any third party bass in there either, with good drums, and good drums turn a good loop into a dope track. Heads up for you up and coming producers eh.

ALBUM REVIEW: Lupe Fiasco – Lasers

What can possibly be said about the release of this record? The struggle behind its release was probably the most documented in Hip Hop history. Saigon faced a famous uphill struggle to finally get his “Greatest Story Never Told” on shelves, but the hill Lupe Fiasco faced was somewhat of a mountain, and it’s gradient could only be described as, well, vertical.
Though after all the troubles and strife and only God knows how many months down the line, Lasers was given a release date and on the 8th March there it was.
Despite the building anticipation and hype surrounding the album, the air was filled with a hefty amount of ambiguity, especially after some fan’s negative reactions to the initial singles released. Was Lupe happy with the album? Did he really hate his own album as some interviews suggested?

AUDIO: Lupe Fiasco – Words I Never Said ft. Skylar Grey
When I first hit play on this one I really wasn't feeling the vibe to the song. The first thoughts that came to mind were of worry that Lupe is steering away from the Hip Hop route. But, as always, the content is on-point and the singer in the background, along with the beat, did grow on me. Knowing the way Lupe does things there's probably a whole host of lines in there that won't be fully understood until next week, so if there's anything just out-of-this -world that you pick up from the lyrical content, feel free to post it in the comment box.
I'm glad he took aim at Obama in this song though, someone had to.

NEWS/VIDEO: Lupe Fiasco – At War with Lasers
Ruby Hornet:
"At one point it wasn't about Lasers, it was about 'yo, we want out," says Lupe Fiasco about his long standoff with Atlantic Records. Lupe had a completed project, and an eager fan base awaiting it, yet Atlantic Records did not want to release Lupe's 3rd studio album, citing creative differences and corporate concerns. Lupe Fiasco's fans took up the battle, staging protests and circulating online petitions for the album's release. They got what they were after this fall, when Lupe Fiasco's Lasers was given a March 2011 release date.
In this interview we talk to Lupe about his feelings during the holdout, as well as how this ordeal has affected his relationship with the music found on the new LP and his enthusiasm to promote it. We also talk about the impact of all the protests and demonstrations on future of the music business, and how he finds grounding and support in the Lasers Manifesto.

NEWS: New Lupe Single – The Show Goes On
We all know Lupe is fond of indie rock and performing different styles of music. So it should be no surprise that his new single covers the Modest Mouse classic "Float On". Perhaps some of the new ring-tone generation will not have heard the original, if so Lupe will get major props for this single. Indie mash up's are becoming more frequent in hip-hop, just last year Kid Cudi sampled Viva La Vida on his first album. This latest offering from Lupe fits in nicely with that movement. Does this mean we are any closer to seeing the release of his new album "Lasers"? Probably not but until then you can blast "The Show Goes On" and "I'm Beamin" in the hope 'Lasers' mysteriously leaks onto the internet.
