In the past few years, instrumental hip-hop albums have started to garner widespread attention. Previously, MCs used to seek out beat tapes to practice their rhymes or find producers for their albums. Nowadays, producers can release entire projects that don’t sound out of place without a rapper spitting over the tracks. This tradition of showcasing beats without rappers started back in the mid 90s with the help of artists such as DJ Shadow and his album “Endtroducing.” The latest release to come across my desk in this genre is IV the Polymath’s “New Vs Old.”

In the City Of Angels, no matter what day of the week it is.. if you're a fan of any particular artist, chances are you'll be coming out to see them. In this case, this past Wednesday night was no different, as the Key Club became a fully packed house, waiting for Idle Warship artists Talib Kweli & Res (w/their band) to come out and jam for their fans. You can even see the anticipation on the audience's faces that once they got started, it was definitely going to be a good night, brought to you by Move Forward Music & Fusicology.

Hello again my good people...exciting news today...

Since the creation of Word Is Bond about 8 months ago or so, we have been expanding our readers and the artists we keep in touch with, constantly.

We have now got to the point that with only 3 editors (Bob42jh, ~Peacelove & myself •J•) we can barely cope with all the news, mails & demand for that good undeground hiphop we've been delivering since our inception.

After much discussion, we've decided to expand once again...

We are currently looking for 2 editors to join the Word Is Bond fam, and keep the dream of making this the best place for underground music.

We are looking for an Editor and a News Editor

Editor role involves:

Daily Posts 1 or 2 minimum
Researching and discovery of new artists
Keeping in contact with artists about current & future oportunities
Coming up with new ideas to take the blog forward.

News Editor:

Daily posts
Research the www about whats new.
Keeping on top of the daily and weekly news
New albums coming out this week/month
Informing people on what to look for in the near future

In a nutshell, on the Editor role you will do everything that the editors are doing at the moment, which is pretty much a bit of everything.

The news editor, you can still do the same as a normal Editor, but we want you to keep focus on the News and what to look for out there, upcoming releases, new albums this week, etc...

Both roles are very flexible, so when you jump on board we can discuss however you want to tackle the position, and new ideas are most welcome, we normally discuss everything and a good idea never gets turned down at WIB. Creativity above everything else.

I think you should look into the new Meebo chat bar. It lets you sign into meebo (aim, msn, gmail, etc) all at once and navigate the site while chatting (like facebook).
