JayLotus drops a fireball of a beat on our ears. The Houston native, who’s name appears to be a mashup of J Dilla and Flying Lotus, namechecks Oddisee in ‘Odd I See’. This is a beat with some mad vibes with that swing in the snare, and reminds me actually of stuff from Flying Lotus’ July Heat (a ’05 beat tape which has very clear Dilla influences). Fresh stuff no doubt, and you can look forward to a full on vinyl release on Variation Music before long
