Orelha Negra + Antena 3 Radio Host (Middle)
As this is essentially an instrumental album you can really focus and appreciate on the production which contain funk elements, jazz, hip-hop, DJ scratching and rock. The dreamy guitar in ‘Lord’ and musical output throughout shows you that each member of Orelha Negra are talented musicians and as a group gel well constructing songs that are layered and change throughout the song.
Tracks I found myself lost in where ‘Tripical’, Iberian vibes Could picture standing somewhere in Brazil or Lisbon with this playing in the background while the structure and detail reminds me of RJD2’s 2002 début album-Deadringer as some of the music would go well in a soundtrack to a film.
Along with The Roots, Orelha Negra show that hip hop music doesn’t always have to focus on just rhymes, instead good music that can paint a vivid picture, conjure up emotions, inspire the listener and as the name of the album suggests bring and create memories.
