Being the cornerstone of many Hip-Hop producers work, soul-based sampling is the backdrop to a lot of people’s listening. Concept, a familiar name from New Zealand, is one producer I’ve always found to be adept at this popular practice. I caught up with him earlier in the week…

…where he told me about his current work-in-progress, The Journey,  a 10-track exploration into one of the most soulful musical archives – Motown. Before you say “been there, heard that”, check out the above teaser track, and I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a winning formula done well.

Aiming for an early 2013 release, it’ll also feature guest appearances. Given his last album boasted the likes of John Robinson and StaHHr… you get the gist of what to expect.
