Blue Scholars DJ Sabzi decided recently to pursuit a unique business venture outside of the music realm. The Seattle-based producer has dedicated his latest endeavor to his love for Pho: a Vietnamese noodle soup, usually served with beef (phở bò) or chicken (phở gà) is generally accompanied with rice noodles, Asian basil, saw tooth herb, rau ôm (rice paddy herb), cilantro, thinly sliced green onion, lime juice, and bean sprouts. Sab created “Pho Life”, a small line of art-driven merchandise that embodies the wildly popular Pho culture. Sabzi also set up a Kickstarter page, aiming to raise $5,000 in order to help him better design and distribute his products. Check out his vision and product photos below and, of course, don’t miss the awesome music video he put together for the cause. Blue Scholars have given us an ample amount of dope music over the years, so do him right and make a contribution here.

Hello. My name is Saba (and Alexei) and a few people call me Sabzi. I’ve been working in Seattle (sometimes NYC and LA) as a DJ and music producer for a little over a decade. Along the way, I created a brand/label/something called TOWNFOLK as a workshop to play around with experimental ideas. What you’re seeing here is our first full project. Like many of you, my friends and I eat phở. Hella. During a conversation over lunch at the Phở Bắc one day, an idea came up for an iconic poster displaying the ingredients of this soup. One thing led to another and eventually this conversation evolved into a complete project involving some rapping, a music video, and a mini line of goods all revolving around contemporary phở culture. This Kickstarter was created to raise the funds required to manufacture some of the design work from this project in order to make it available so that you too can rep phở life.
