One of the nicest, underground, old school LA tracks you’ll ever hear, from The Nonce’s Bus Stop EP, and one I’ve been meaning to share for quite some time. I say nice but it’s actually quite sad, a commentary on why dope Hip Hop crews break up, how money and fame effect them and so on. This is tragically ironic on two levels, and I’ll explain after the jump. But make sure you do not sleep on this track. One of the all time underground classics. Share with your friends and family too.

The Nonce – Who Falls Apart

…As I was saying, this track is tragically ironic on two levels: firstly, despite a fairly heavy push from their label The Nonce never really made it, perhaps because they were on such a traditional jazzy vibe compared to that gangster ish coming out of LA at the time; and secondly, The Nonce were a duo who were never seperated musically until Yusef Afloat, one of the two members, committed suicide in 2000.

Whilst looking for an mp3 to upload for you all to listen to, I found two really interesting, eye opening articles on The Nonce. I only knew about this track but from now I think I will have to check their LP and regard them as one of my underground favourites.

  1. Article from Roy Ayers Project
  2. Article from B-Side Wins Again

Definately worth reading.
