Just got word of this AMAZING article, that any hiphop head should read….HECK any MUSIC fan should read, via HipHopIsRead.com. Author of the article is unknown for his personal protection. (completely understandable after you have a read)

True or not…It will at least make you wonder about the state of hip-hop nowadays…

Just want to add…the reason we cover Underground Hip-Hop at Word IS Bond is because we truly believe,  that true/honest hip-hop,  will always live underground.

Hello,

After more than 20 years, I’ve finally decided to tell the world what I witnessed in 1991, which I believe was one of the biggest turning point in popular music, and ultimately American society. I have struggled for a long time weighing the pros and cons of making this story public as I was reluctant to implicate the individuals who were present that day. So I’ve simply decided to leave out names and all the details that may risk my personal well being and that of those who were, like me, dragged into something they weren’t ready for.

Between the late 80′s and early 90

Believable story. Having been in a rap/hop hop band at this time I can attest to how or band with a positive message was told to make the lyrics gangster and mindless party style or lose the contract. In addition were were asked to use drugs ourselves and promote and live the gangster image. We lost our contract as what they asked our band was impossible for us. We were also blacklisted. So this story is completely believable. Please consider naming names and telling us who it was. I can tell you Capital records, Arista and Warner Bros were all pushing this criminal hip hop movement. In addition, their minor labels were all pushed and pressured as well.
