Kinetik explains his thought process below:

When I first received this Sol Brova track, the initial thought that came to me was “freedom”.  The strings, drums and vocal sample just made me ask myself the question “what is freedom and what does it mean to truly be free?”.  However, I was not sure what angle I wanted to speak from so I left the music alone for a few days to let my thoughts marinate.  One night though, I had a dream that I was flying and looking over the whole world from a bird’s eye view.  I saw everything… including people, places and situations.  For the first time in my life, I saw everything crystal clear.  When I woke up, I decided to write about my dream because the dream defined for me what freedom truly is.  For me, it means “free to be yourself with no restrictions, no regrets and treating every moment as a gift”.

I took a slightly different approach when writing the lyrics to this track.  In recent months, my style has become a lot more abstract in the sense that the poetry devices I use in rhyme often have layered meanings and therefore mean different things to different people.  For example, in the track where I refer to myself as “a contemporary David, initially forgotten but designed and refined with invisible hands”; what I am referring to is the Biblical story where the prophet Samuel went to see a man named Jesse in search of the new King of Israel.  Jesse had many sons but he had one particular son called David who looked after the sheep and was overlooked because Jesse thought that he was not “king material”.  When the prophet Samuel saw David, he immediately decided that he was the right person to be the new King of Israel.  I relate to this story because I too at times have been overlooked in the musical sense, but my God given gifts are coming to the forefront and I am finally being recognised as a true lyricist.

Lastly, I would like to thank Word Is Bond and Sol Brova for reaching out and making this collaboration happen. It is truly and honour and a privilege to contribute in a positive way to this great culture known as Hip Hop and music as a whole.  I hope you all enjoy the music as much as I enjoyed playing a part in creating it.  — K.I.N.E.T.I.K.
