Big Boi, the other half of Outkast, was arrested for possession of ecstasy, MDMA powder, viagra (without prescription) and drug paraphernalia on Sunday, according to the Miami-Dade County Corrections website. Apparently he was arrested by customs officials while exiting a cruise ship, according to TMZ.com. The 36-year-old Antwan Patton was booked around 1:30 p.m. and bond is set at $16,000.

In a not-so-stunning development, Big Boi tweeted about the incident saying, “Fresh out baby !” then “Shiiiiit they said it was the Love Boat”. My thoughts exactly.

Daniel Kane, Big Boi’s attorney, issued this statement:

“While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated.”

I know Outkast hasn’t been considered underground hip hop for more than a decade but they were, in my opinion, the first faces of hip hop to come out of the South.
