sabata first jumped on my radar with his excellent jungle, and he returns with a series of interpretations featuring flips of classics like Biggie and Crooklyn Dodgers as well as a couple of short instrumentals in toucans. There was a period at the end of last year when the lo-fi sample sound had all of a sudden become incredibly samey and saturation, so it’s interesting to see which artists are now growing out of it. sabata is certainly one of those names, combining lazy vocals with rich production and a slightly slower tempo make some nice mellow sounds. Fresh.
