The California emcee Fashawn is back with his new album The Ecology!

The Fresno city representative Fashawn has finally returned with his sophomore studio album entitled The Ecology. It truly has been long awaited, as he dropped his first album Boy Meets World back in 2009. Just like the first album, The Ecology has Exile on the boards for most of the album. In fact, Exile produced 9 of the 14 tracks featured on the album. This is some of the best production of Exile’s career, he manages to capture the silky and soulful sound that defines the west coast. The album’s lead single “Golden State of Mind” featuring Dom Kennedy really showcases this by offering the listener a sweet groove to vibe with. Fashawn has evolved as an emcee, he masterfully delivers rhymes that are both sincere and gritty without it ever feeling forced. To top off the great production and thoughtfully crafted lyricism, Fashawn’s newest album includes some excellent guest features. Aloe Blacc is featured on two tracks, he sings on the track “Something to Believe In” which also features Nas and is a true highlight of the album. But the real treat for longtime Dirty Science fans is when Aloe Blacc raps with Choosey on the track “It’s A Good Thing” which is a nice throwback nod to his early days with Exile in the group Emanon. Fashawn has successfully avoided the sophomore slump with The Ecology. Its been six years since the first release, but he has truly built upon the success he found with his first album.
