Cheatcode, the man behind Phantasmagoria, unveils his latest creation: a super group called Operation Mockingbird (check the info below for further details). I’m not privy to the identities of the individuals in this group besides Cheatcode himself, but needless to say, their debut single ‘Repeat’ packs a wallop. Intensity and creativity are the watchwords here.

Where do we draw the line in terms of free speech? It was not that long ago when our thoughts were largely subdued by those around us, or by the authorities, if our views were radically different from the status quo. Thankfully, the advent of technology has allowed everybody to develop their own platform, a luxury that comes with great responsibility. Operation Mockingbird is named after the alleged 1950s CIA propaganda project, supposedly aimed to influence media for political gain. Production wise, Cheatcode sticks with a head moving, yet off-the-wall at times beat to set the foundation as the East Coast Regional DMC Finalist, DJ NEB , lays down the cuts on the hook, while the rest of the operation reflectively speak on growing up through a series of hard knocks. “Repeat” is out now, so hit play and turn this one up high before their next heater is unleashed.
