I’ve been looking forward to this release from the two Japanese brothers bugseed illsugi for a bit now, simply because I am a huge, huge fan of their work. The vibes that manifest in their music are enough to get perk up the deceased out of their grave to snap their necks, and from the first 20 seconds you can tell that Pier 7 is gonna be the 8th wonder of the world. A release good enough to literally forgot all woes, worries and responsibility (e.g. I’m going to have to apologise to my bandmates for being late to the studio today… but I’m sure they’ll understand) this is definitely something you will want to experiment. A richly jazzy and mellow character is lined with a lo-fi, wonky edge, and the balance is struck just perfectly.

Go get the digital album, vinyl or whatever below, on the strictly dope Urban Waves.

Urban Waves is proud to present this new project by Bugseed & Illsugi, two of the finest beatmakers out of Tokyo, Japan. Pier 7 is designed around the idea of a youthful free spirit inspired by the docks of San Francisco. The concepts exposed here are independence, skateboarding, freedom and love. With this album we went all the way designing a limited release on unique formats like white vinyl and red cassettes it goes without saying that both are absolutely mandatory if you are a collector and or a fan of the new generation of hip hop and beatmaking. With the art of our very own Alex Brade for the cover and two outstanding producers that put their minds together, this album can only please you!
