Anyone who knows me knows I love Flying Lotus, so whenever I hear a refreshing of his work – especially when he collaborates with them, which for me is one of the ultimate cosigns –  I’m always intrigued. This is not a particularly mind boggling rework, in fact it’s just a hijacked beat from Until The Quiet Comes, but Smoke DZA‘s wispy lyricism and dedication to enjoying the finer highs of life makes this worth listening to. Over ‘Getting There’, he reaches heights with a nice, playful approach. Hope to see a proper Flying Lotus-rapper collab in full one day. He says he’s been tryna get DOOM since 2006 but… eh… it’s DOOM, so good luck.
